signing of a model contract for Internet radios operated by associations

SACEM, along with SDRM & SESAM, & FRANCE WEBRADIOS(National Web Radios Association) announce the signing of a model contract for Internet radios operated by associations
Internet radios operated by associations will now be able to use their Internet site to broadcast works of the SACEM repertoire, for their streaming activity.
Thanks to this agreement, authors, composers and publishers of music, whose works are broadcast by Internet radios operated by associations, will be paid 6% of all revenues for any web radio:
- with an annual budget under €20,000, a minimum of €60 a month for the first three broadcast channels,
- with an annual budget under €40,000, a minimum of €120 a month for the first three broadcast channels.
This agreement, which replaces the previous SACEM contract, was made possible by the positive attitude of FRANCE WEBRADIOS, concerned with the respect of creators’ rights and the capacity of authors’ societies keep up with the evolution of exploitation of musical works.
Bernard Miyet, Chairman of the SACEM Management Board, emphasizes “the importance of facilitating the broadcasting, for web radios respectful of creators and music lovers, of programmes on the Internet that contribute to the promotion of musical diversity and the emergence of new talent.”
We should recall that SACEM is a private non-profit organization managed by authors, composers and publishers of music. Its vocation is to protect, represent and serve the interests of creators and publishers of music and musical creation. It has the mission to collect and distribute royalties in France and redistribute them to creators in France and all over the world.

FRANCE WEBRADIOS (National Web Radios’ Association): Founded in February 2006, this association aims to bring together and represent the publishers of Internet radios operated by associations and today groups 20 publishers representing 35 of the 240 French web radios known to date.
